Brilliant!
Absolutely great game, the graphics is ps2 eske but the sounds make it as realistic as the newest games

Challenging, but great fun,
This is the first game I played on the PSP and I was blown away by how good it is.
Apart from the obvious slight drop in quality of the graphics, the game is a direct port of the PS2 version.
The controls take a bit of getting used to, but once you are comfortable with the analogue "nub" its every bit as fun as the PS2 version. Like a lot of other reviewers I am stuck on 80 something percent as the ice race or truck race are seemingly impossible. I will keep going trying though and if I can't win them Ill just play on tracks that I have unlocked already.
A superb game and must have for fans of driving games everywhere.

Very Hard But Excellent!
Ive had toca 2 for about 9 months, 88% complete, and just cannot get any further!
The game follows a storyline that has a Scottish speaking talent scout giving you trials in an Aston Martin. You have to average 3rd place or better over 3 different races to catch his eye. After succeeding in that, you are then put into a formula ford car which seems at first completely undriveable and very frustrating but then you learn that each type of car you are required to drive handles realistically and therefore takes some time to get right.
The mini-movie cut scenes that 'document' your progression are superb graphically (you only have to look in the background on most of them to see the detail theyve gone to), and they prove a great reward for finishing each series in a good position. I think I have seen about 21 movie clips so far.
Ive rallied, driven trucks, jaguars, classics, koenigs, porsches, mustangs, you name it, you drive it as you progress!
This game is an absolute must if you love technical driving games like formula 1, but an arcade type 'put in and play' person wouldnt last 5 minutes with this one.

Okay, let's put it like this.....
I really, really do like this game.
Yes, it's difficult. It's very difficult. You have to practice a track at least ten times or something before you're anywhere near racing on it competitively, and the AI of the other drivers is pretty good too. It looks sweet, and handles as any decent driving simulation should - realistically....
You can't expect to be able to tear into a hairpin at 100mph, you'll severely damage you, your car and demolish your chance of winning. This of course, is bound to put NFS and RidgeRacer fans off, as you really don't need to appreciate the car or track you're driving (and I own RR and love that too). BUT, for those people who want more than a challenge and know why race teams practice so much in their cars, and practice for hours on tracks before racing on them - this is your cup of tea.

TOCA requirements
To be able to really like this game you have to be a specific type of person like me. You really have to love cars and racing. Now its not the typical need for speed arcade type of racing when they say it's a simulator it's a simulator. Some cars are harder to control at times and if youre not careful you'll skid off the track easily. Sometimes skidding is pretty hard to avoid and if you don't have patience you wont like this game. In summary if you like Gran turismo and other driving simulators definitely try it. If you like more arcade games that don't require perfect control you should be looking at games like Outrun 2 or burnout legends which I also own and are magnificent
