RESIDENT EVIL 4
This must be one of the most PLAYABLE games ever!!!....AND IVE PLAYED A LOT!!
From the different scenarios,weapons,and...with the foes getting more evil every time you go up a notch..been on till the early hours of many mornings or is that evenings?Absolutely great controlS,does what you want and not what the game has programmed in,like the other Resident Evil where your dragged along and can only shoot monsters etc and pretty slow shot reactions..
this game has been brilliantly thought out and if you have to own one game..this is the daddy!!!!
So..how come we have we do not have a follow up combibng the same programmers skills!!!
In my opinion no ther games comes even close.....GET IT AND BE PREPARED TO BURN THE MIDNIGHT OIL!!!

Keeps you coming back for more
Im a casual gamer, i can honestly say that this is one of the most immersive games i have ever played, totally satisfying, fantastic storyline, superb graphics. The best thing about the wii is the value you can get from £10 games, i would rate this even above the fantastic Conduit, Dead Space Extraction and Darkside Chronicles.

Absolutely thrilling first person shooter.
Remarkably this game has been in my house for a couple of years and I only played it the once until last week.
I had put it on 'normal' mode (the choice is normal or easy, 'professional' gets unlocked if you complete it on normal mode) shot a few bad guys, ran out of ammunition and died in a very annoying way.
I'd bought a couple of other games at the same time so I kind of forgot about this. It was only recently when I'd been playing super mario galaxy 2, when I felt like a change to something a bit less cute and cartoony and I gave this another go and I was just blown away by how good it actually is. The game came out on other systems way back in 2005 but it wasn't out on the wii until 2007. The controls are actually great for the wii, to aim at something you simply press the B button to raise your weapon and then point at where you want to shoot with the wii remote. The plot is a tiny bit confusing if you're not a resident evil fan but it doesn't matter, the cinematics make you feel part of the story and it just gets better and better. The graphics are very good and realistic and later on you get on mine carts, the back of a truck, on a cable car, on a jetski. Its just amazing. There's a large variety of weapons you can buy and upgrade, one annoying thing about is that you can't buy ammo and sometimes need to conserve it, I can kind of see why they'd want to make this addition but in the end I'd probably rather the unrealistic infinite ammo option.
You have to rescue the president's daughter and you are able to do this initially before the game is even half over - its very well done, she follows you around and will wait somewhere if you ask her, or hide when that option is available. You can even give her a piggyback to climb over a door you couldn't before get through and get her to unlock it from the other side.
I'm probably one of the last people to discover this game even though I've had it for a long time, the price is fantastic for what a great game it is and if you haven't discovered it, you're in for a treat.
I'd give it a 9 out of 10 maybe, slightly more. What's slightly worrying is that this is such an old game, but its still thought by many to be one of the best first person shooters on the wii system (resident evil 5 may or may not appear on the system later) which kind of shows that the 3rd party manufacturers have been a little lazy with it. Having said that, it can't detract from the fact that this game is excellent and with unlockable material, involving new costumes, characters and weapons there's a lot to keep you coming back for more.

Leon Kennedy has a lot to answer for
It is 6 years since the Racoon City T-virus outbreak and one of the few survivors, ex-rookie cop Leon Scott Kennedy, now works for the President's Special Task Force. Unfortunately for Leon, his first assignment was supposed to be protecting the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, but she was kidnapped the day before he was due to take over, and now he has to find her. Well, that's Leon's story and he's sticking to it.
I never thought that I'd enjoy a first person shooter (FPS); to be honest after my dire attempts to play Doom on PC I'd always assumed I'd be less than useless at them. Other than Doom the closest I'd gotten to an FPS had been Tomb Raider (and even I don't think that counts), but after Christmas RE4 was in the sales and it was cheap enough for me to think `why not'.
I love it. It is officially the most played game in my wii collection, after 4 months of ownership and playing I can honestly say that the disc is rarely out of the wii console.
On starting the game the menu I was greeted by had two options "Easy" and "Normal" (on completion of the "normal" you get the option of "professional") - so as a newbie to FPS I went for the "Easy" option. I had to die a few times in the village before I got the hang of things, but once I did I get the hang of it the game play is superb. This is not an on-the-rails game so once you've clear a section of the game you can take your time, have a wander around, and look for the bonus items, gems, jewels and treasures. This also allows you to recover from a hectic battle with a little treasure hunting.
The "chapters" get more difficult as you progress, the enemies at the start may take only one shot but towards the end it will take five or six or more. However, as you progress through the game your understanding of the game play increases, therefore, giving you greater ability to cope with more difficult foes.
There are also two sub games within the main game:
- The blue medallions game -find and shoot the blue medallions to receive a free gift from the merchant;
- Shooting gallery - collect bottle top treasures by accurate shooting in the shooting gallery - four levels with six bottle tops per level to collect, and a bonus of PTAs for each of the 4 rows completed.
Once you complete your first run you will be given an extras option on the main menu. Included in the extras you get extra games - "separate ways" which when completed gives you the game "assignment Ada" and "Ada's report", "the mercenaries" and "movie browser". It is well worth listening to, and watching, Ada's reports as it gives you a slight insight into the woman in red and raises a lot more questions about who she is, who she works for and her role in the whole Resident Evil saga.
I have never owned a game that gives you so many extra bonus items to play for. New infinite ammo weapons are available on completion of your first for Leon game (infinite rocket launcher) and "assignment Ada" (Chicago typewriter machine gun), but you will have to purchase these two items from the merchant at a cost of 1 million PTAs each. The hand cannon is free on completion of the mercenaries game five stars on all four levels with all characters - this is apparently free but I've yet to achieve it. There is also a free PRL 412 laser gun for completing the professional game, once again this is something I have not yet achieved.
Alternative costumes are also available on completion of the main Leon game.
One thing I didn't realise when I started playing was that you can combine the gemstones with the treasures, this will give you a significantly more valuable item to sell to the merchant, meaning that you can make the upgrades a lot earlier than you would have if you sell them separately.
You can also shoot crows for extra bonus items or money.
I have to admit I found Ashley a royal pain, and have shot her once or twice on principle.
The only real down side to RE4 is it's a one person game only - which is such a shame as my sister would have loved to have played too.
Leon Scott Kennedy has a lot to answer for. Since I started playing Resident Evil 4 I have become a truth follower of the cult that is Resident Evil - I am now in possession of all the games, most of the books and the comics.
This is officially my favourite game on the Wii (for now), but I await the release of Resident Evil 5 with baited breath. Unfortunately, it would appear that, as with Resident Evil 4, those with the Wii console will have to wait a couple of years longer for the pleasure of playing with Chris Redfield instead of Leon Kennedy.
